The Well Control Workgroup supports members by sharing WCE best practices, improving system upgrades and training, enhancing reporting processes, and engaging with OEMs and emerging suppliers.
Objectives
The workgroup will provide a dedicated forum to:
Share WCE Ideas Among Members
- Upgrades to WCE systems
- WCE optimisation strategies
- Recurring issues requiring OEM attention (outside of formal bulletins)
- Exploring the use of alternative suppliers and managing compliance considerations
Training
- Assessing the quality and availability of training in the region
- Reviewing training requirements for both Surface and Subsea WCE
- Supporting the IADC Subsea Competency Assessment Programme (SCAP)
Failure Reporting
- Promoting and educating members on the IADC Rapid 53 reporting system
- Expanding reporting to include suppliers to capture data on alternative OEMs
General WCE Topics
- Addressing pain points with WCE suppliers and equipment
- Navigating constantly evolving rules and regulations (e.g., API updates)
- Introducing suppliers to the workgroup to present their products and repair capabilities
